What is TT buy rate?

TT (Telegraphic Transfer) buy rate is the rate your Indian bank applies when you receive an international wire transfer. It determines how many rupees actually land in your account. Higher is better for you — even a 0.5% difference on a $5,000 payment is over ₹2,000.

Why is my bank's rate lower than the RBI rate?

The RBI reference rate is the mid-market interbank rate — a global benchmark, not a rate available to individuals. Banks add their own margin on top of this (typically 0.5–1.5%) when processing your inward remittance. That margin is the bank's profit on the conversion and shows up as the "Markup over RBI" column in the table above.

How often are these rates updated?

Rates are updated manually from each bank's published rate page. The timestamp above the table shows when they were last updated. Always verify the current rate directly with your bank before transacting.

What is FIRA / FIRC and do I need it?

FIRA (Foreign Inward Remittance Advice) and FIRC (Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate) are two names for the same document — a confirmation issued by your bank or remittance platform that you received money from abroad. FIRC is the older term used by banks; FIRA is the newer term used by RBI and most platforms today. It is useful for income tax filings, GST purposes, and as proof of payment for clients. Some platforms issue it free with every transaction; others charge a fee.
